Efficiency of SFP - DNA microarray approach

    SFP (SNP) discovery:

5,000 SNPs or SFPs identification out of ~12 chips hybridizations (one month)

    SFP (SNP) mapping:

    for example, 130 RILs, 130 X 2 = 260 chips/hybridizations
    26 hybridizations per week = 10 weeks (2 - 3 months)

Total time 4 - 6 months to map 5,000 SNPs (SFPs)
(compare to 10 years with efficiency 500 markers per year)
